Santa Ana Ward 4: Sandra Anda Leads Phil Bacerra by 117 Votes in Preliminary Council Results

SANTA ANA, Orange County — November 4, 2026. The race for Santa Ana City Council Ward 4 remained close in the county’s overnight unofficial returns. NBC Los Angeles listed Sandra Anda with 3,001 votes (50.99%) against Phil Bacerra with 2,884 (49.01%), a difference of 117 votes.

Ward 4 remains unresolved

Only voters eligible in Ward 4 decide this seat; it is not a second election for Santa Ana mayor. Additional ballots may shift the narrow reported difference, so the initial lead should not be reported as a definitive victory. The official county canvass continues after Election Night.

Other Santa Ana contests

For context, the same NBC snapshot showed incumbent Mayor Valerie Amezcua leading with 14,795 votes, while Dan Shimell had 10,924 and Dwayne Shipp 3,848. In Ward 2, Benjamin Vazquez led Selica Diaz with 2,406 votes to 865; in Ward 6, Isuri Ramos led Giovanni Chavez with 1,993 votes to 1,825. Each office is a distinct contest and must be described separately.

Why local representation matters

City Council members shape budgets, municipal services, public safety, streets and land-use decisions. Ward 4 residents should follow the official Orange County Registrar of Voters results as later ballots are processed.

Source and update limitations: These are preliminary November 3–4 results from NBC Los Angeles’s Orange County election tracker, not final county certification. The Orange County Registrar of Voters publishes the authoritative election count. Counties continue the official canvass after Election Night; figures can change. The newsroom will not conflate a reported lead with a certified result.
